WD My Book "Cannot Be Modified" Message

I'm having an issue where when I try to copy a file from my Powerbook over to my WD My Book, it gives me the message, "The item (file here) cannot be moved because (name of My Book) cannot be modified" This is not an issue if I connect it to a PC but only with other Macs.

What is causing this and is there a way to resolve the issue?

Thanks.

Re: WD My Book "Cannot Be Modified" Message

Hey Dude I bought a My Book 1TB Hard Drive Today and I had the same problem

I figured out a way around this

heres what you do

(on a Mac)

Go to your finder
Go to applications
Go to Utilities
Go to Disk Utility
Select Your External Hard Drive on the Left
Click on the Partition Tab
Click on options
Click on Apple Partition Map
Click Ok
Click Partition

BAM! Your done :-)
