Partiton Problems [RESOLVED]
How do you make a once partitioned hard drive all one partition again? In Disk Management I have my C: drive (105.83 GB) and then 47.56 GB of "unallocated space" I want to have that 47 GB in my C: drive. How do I make it all one again?

Re: Partiton Problems
You can make those 47.56 GB another partition, like D:, by just right-clicking on it, selecting create a partition and later assigning it a letter. I'd suggest you do that, and you could use that new partition for your downloads for instance, so you decrease the fragmentation speed of your c: drive.
If you really want to merge that part of your drive with your c: volume without reinstalling xp, you'll have to use partition magic, but I'm note sure the free demo version does it. |

Re: Partiton Problems
Once you have partitioned a drive and installed your OS on it you can't partition it from Disk Management. The only way to do it is with something like Partition Magic 8

Re: Partiton Problems
you cant merge or extend partitions from within windows tools
to accomplish such tasks you will need to purchase a partition modification program like the one mentioned above. The free version of PM 8.0 only lets you get a "feel" of the program, it wont actually make changes to your partition structure the next best thing is just format the unallocated section, then you will be able to use it. You may run into the 137 gig drive barrier anyway; after your merge the partitions. if you want more info about that, then google for 137gig drive barrier Win XP so; unless you have since added SP-1 or SP-2 (service packs) then merging your partitions alone is not going to be the answer anyway ??????? while in disk management / right click on the unallocated section of the hard drive and select "format" after its done formatting , you can use the space
