newbee ?

when i installed my HD i never installed drivers... i just loaded the windows OS then installed the drivers for my asus a8n sli deluxe mobo... this has been fine for 2 years, lately i been wondering if this was ok, and if my system is lacking performance because i didnt install drivers for my sata drive in the 1st place . If so should what should i do?

I can say that every once in a while i have to reconnect the sata plug because the drive isnt read at boot up.

web pages take a while to load up even though i have a fiber optic connection

Re: newbee ?

The drivers for your SATA drive are determined by the SATA controller on your motherboard, so in saying this you should be ok because would not be able to use the drive if it needed a specific driver from the onset. I know the Intel ICH SATA controllers do not need a driver to be loaded in a non raid situation, and other controllers that do need a SATA driver would not have let you load your Operating system without one and you would have had errors when trying to load without doing the F6 thing ( loading drivers during XP install )
I would say that your slow loading of pages could possibly be due to clutter in your system or possibly spyware/malware
