vista & xp on 2 seperate HDDs

I have an old seagate 80 GB EIDE Barracuda 7200.7 HDD and i just bought a WD 160 GB SATA HDD with windows Vista home premium. I want to know if i can put vista on the 160 Gig and my old XP on the 80 Gig on two seperate partitions. Also, how would i set the jumper blocks? Would one be slave and one be master, or would both be master, or what? Thanks.

One will be master the other slave. Once installed at boot you will be
given a option as to what os to boot to.

My System

Set the ide drive ( 80G ) to master and the sata drives do not have a master slave relationship, they will be like sata 1, sata 2 ect.
I am also presuming that you do not have anything else on the ide cable that your 80G drive lives on

I would partition the 160 into a 60G for vista and partition the rest for storage

My System

Send a message via MSN to Rebellion88
I notice some people who like to get the best performance from their system use a small SATA driver like 80GB and install the operating system on there with nothing else. Giving you quicker access with no clutter, kind of like partitioning your bigger drive into two sections with just enough space for vista would be ideal and hopefully keep the install clean and clutter free.

To blackduck30, no i don't have any other things on the ide cable. To Rebellion88, why would it matter if i partitioned the SATA drive in two and had vista on one section and everything else on the other section, would that boost the performance or what?
