Seagate 80GB (RESOLVED)

I have a brand new Seagate 80GB IDE drive that I am trying to format and clone. I connected it various ways in the system and each time it is seen at boot screen in the correct postition but when I go to My Computer it is not there. I have changed IDE cables and have used another hard drive to test the cables and power connectors and it is seen in My Computer using the same cable position(s).

Any suggestions? Possibly a bad drive?

If it's brand new, it probably hasn't been initialised. Go Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management. The drive should be listed there. When you right-click on the drive, there should be an option to Initialize Disk. Then you can partition and format.
