uploading files to a new computer

Hi

This may not be possible, but here goes!

I have a problem with my PC in that the monitor is showing the "self test" screen (that's my first problem, any ideas?). I've just bought a new mac so my PC is near enough redundant so I don't mind so much that I can't use it, but there are lots of files on there that I would like to get back! Is there any way of uploading them to my new mac without a monitor? For example if I could link it up via usb could I access the hard drive through my mac? I'm quite possibly talking rubbish, but I have no idea how to resolve this issue. Is it possible? Is it possible to do it myself, or will I have to take it in to a shop?

Thanks

Oh and if I've posted this in the wrong forum I'm very sorry, wasn't sure where to post!

depending on how many files and how big they are. you can save the files from the pc onto a flash drive. then copy the files over from the flash drive onto the mac.

that could be a problem. you could always see if someone has a monitor you could borrow for a an hour or so. i mean either way to transfer files from the pc to the mac you will need some kind of video on the pc. did you try to plug your monitor into another pc? if it works there, then its the video card on your pc. if it doesn't then monitor has gone to monitor heaven. depending on how "new" it is you can always see if there is a warranty on it.

Confused

Well I do have a monitor, which I think works ok as i can hook it up to my mac and it works, but is showing the self test page when i hook it up to the pc, which i presume means it's not receiving the signal so i think i may have a graphics card problem rather than a monitor problem. So basically I need a way of accessing my hard drive

This may sound a bit stupid but the harddrive that has your data does it have an operating system installed on it? If not you could take the harddrive out and just put it in an external enclosure and plug that into your mac I think.
