XP recovery won't see slave
Could someone help out here. No place I have looked seems to know...no even HP. I have had a setup with a master and slave drive for over a year. worked great. Two days ago, I opened a bad programs that was loaded with viruses, trojans, etc. locked up everything including internet connection. Finally just did a system restore after unplugging my slave drive to keep from losing anything. Restore went fine, but slave drive is not seen by xp now. Under computer management it shows up there as F-Drive (as it should) and GETDATABACK pulls all the info up just as slave was before recovery. Yet when you click on property tab for slave drive under my computer it says it is empty and asks to format now? I did notice too that under computer management the slave drive does show the files, but is missing the NTFS under the file type.
How can I get XP to see that slave is there? Last edited by fsumichaelg; 01-14-2007 at 04:45 PM. |

Thanks Matt,
It sounds like exactly what is happening to me here. One thing that I didn't see addressed though is if after using partition magic, or whatever partition recovery program, will it do anything to the files on the slave drive? I used the GetDataBack program and everything IS there. $80 to register the program so the files can be copied. (Well worth it considering what is at stake) I am however afraid of messing up the files that are there doing anything not 100% certain. Even thought it might be better to go buy an external HD to transfer the files to not sure that would work though. Maybe just buy a new CPU and trash this one? |

your "beef" is not with the CPU simply buy the serial key code for getdataback and all will be well it will restore your drive and data for use
no external drive purchase necessary the section about Partition magic is a method to use "if" you wanted to set up a drive again and now that it cant happen again, or use the hard drive makers drive set-up utilities to partition and format the drive. for your dillema: simply use the getdataback and live happily ever after just bear in mind; every time you use that restore CD that will happen so you might want to put a copy of getdataback on a CD disk for such use after your clean installs or recoverys
