Sata Install

I have a abit kv8 pro motherboard and when trying to install windows it doesnt detect the western digital sata 80gb hard drive.

Sounds like you need to install the sata driver provided on your Abit CD. Windows won't recognize the drive as a bootable drive without them. If you have the CD, fire up the windows install cd, and when it starts to say "inspecting hardware" press F6. Install your 3rd party driver and you should be good to roll. If you don't have the CD, schlepp on over to Abit's site and download the correct SATA driver for your board.

Might be a good idea before you get too far to take a look at the SATA link under my signature. That way, you can better understand Sata and how it works.

i sorted it the board only supports 150 transfer speed not the full 300 so i moved the jumper and it worked fine
