Frequesnt crashes on a just formated drive

This computer worked fine before, then i got a new drive for it - i even wrote zeros to the drive using Maxblast 4. sometimes when i boot, it may freeze on the windows boot screen. sometimes it freezes at the welcome screen. sometimes it freezes when i plug in a new usb device.

being that it has just been formated, and i tried a different hard drive - i dont know what the problem is.

any ideas?

I went to the dell website to search for drivers for my computer.
there weren't any motherboard drivers exactly, infact, there werent many drivers to download at all.

my machine booted a lot faster than it usually does for some reason, but i still cant get to my desktop.

Hi,

Tell us about your setup on all the drives in this machine. What kind of drives (Sata - IDE), type of drive, where on the ribbon cable are they placed, how are jumpers set, and which IDE slot are they connected to if IDE? Also, are you sure you are using an 80 connector cable for this unit?
