Hello everyone,
First off hello, I'm new to the forum and I hope you all can help me. I have what I perceive to be a pretty dumb question, but I can't seem to find the answer myself, so I'm hoping you can help me. I have an HP dv8000 laptop which has two HD bays. I just purchased a new Seagate 120GB ATA100 drive for it but didn't seem to realize that I need the metal plate that the drive attaches to. I have looked everywhere for one, but can't seem to find one. Does anyone know where I can purchase one so I can get my HD up and running? I'm sure I'll need help after the install too. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Thank you for replying.
I have been to the HP parts website and can't find anything. HP is always so much more expensive on parts than places like newegg.com and such. I was hoping to find it online. I don't know that I'm even quite sure what it's called... which could be part of my problem. |

The hard disk caddy, as it is called, that came from the old drive should be used to mount the new drive, as they are all the standard 2.5" form factor.

You won't need to buy a new caddy, just use whatever came with the laptop.
