Weird Partitions on Disk
I have a disk in my server with music on it, when I installed Windows I noticed some weird stuff about it during the installation.. Here's how it reads..
38179MB Disk 0 at id 1 on bus 0 on Atapi Unpartitioned Space 82351MB Unpartitioned Space 24158MB D: NTFS (Music) 831050MB (13479 free) -- Unknown 265613MB Now its only a 40GB drive, with 26 gigs used, and 14 free. Where is all this other information coming from? I also noticed some weird activity on the drive itself. Some of my music is now compressed.. I noticed when all my files started to become blue.. I have never compressed any of my data. Now I just did a new installation of Windows.. Would it do compression automatically to save space? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well disk 0 is your C drive and it always calls them atapi devices don't know why), but your numbers don't add up to me, are you reading them right and using the correct value's ? and do you have a second hard drive in there that these could of come from ? but those numbers add up to over 100gb, so unless you have a second drive something is off.
Also was the drive pre-installed by a store ? because they use hidden partitions to store the software and os on, and I have seen options to compress files during clean ups so thats probably whats happened there |
