Roll Eyes usb drive installation

i am new to this site. the main reason why i joined this site is because of one very important problem. the problem is my usb drive. my pc is 3 years old. at the begining the window instalation cd installed everything except the usb drive. i thought that it was not a big problem then but now it is. when i try to install it it gives some error and stop. i don't remember the type of error because i lost the cd. and every time i plug some flash it tells me that it is not properly installed. when i asked some professionals here in ethiopia they told me to try to find a comatable installation cd for my pc from the internet and inastall it. but i don't know how to get it. please tell me what to do.

You need to get your windows updates, that will allow usb 2.0 support.
I recommend both service packs 1 and 2.....

Not vista. Update your current os. Click the start button at desktop
you should see a windows update icon. Sp 1 and 2 are updates to your
current operating system..

problem opening folder and application

i am having two problems with my pc. the firist is that some folders arre not accessible for me. when i try to open them a dialoge box appear and says that that particular folder is not accessible. and below that it says Access is denied. as long as i know i am the administrator of the pc, so what is wrong with my folders. the next is when i try to open some applications like GTA San Andreas, window explorer and many others they won't start. when i double click at them it seems that they are going to open, the hour glass would come but then after 3 or 4 seconds everything is back to the same place. what may be wrong with them?

If I recall correctly, the Sasser worm revoked the administrative properties of the administrator(s) (along with taking control over ACPI and local policies AND exploiting lssas.exe). I would check your machine for infections. Also, follow the 5 steps in the security forum of this board. Also, is your copy of Windows XP actually legal? If it is, you shouldn't have a problem validating Windows. You should glide right through it... Try the ownership fix before attempting any other drastic measures, though.
