For some reason my slave hard drive isn’t being detected by my computer properly. It was working fine this morning. Later in the day I clicked a shortcut to a folder on the slave and it gave me an error saying that the network destination or drive I was trying to access wasn’t there. I then went to my PC and was startled to see only one hard drive icon.
Hoping it would get detected in the boot up, I restarted my PC. When it finally started booting up it a message saying something about there being no 80 conductor cable installed. I restarted a few times and got the same message repeatedly. However, the computer eventually successfully started. Yet the hard drive wasn’t there. I restarted repeatedly, sometimes the computer loaded successfully, sometimes it didn’t. But eventually on one of the successful attempts the hard drive was detected. It showed up in Disk Manager as being active, healthy and still under its proper letter designation. Yet, when I would try to access it, it would give me a new error. It said that the operation could not be performed because of an inpage error. Anybody know what’s wrong? I really need to get at the information on that hard drive. I have years worth of work on there! I’m very desperate! Please help! |

if the drive is detected in bios,
If possible-run chkdsk /r any chance of a virus? is there a pagefile on the slave drive? Wouldn't hurt to run drive diagnostics on the drive |
