Confused Large Amount of Hard Drive Space Missing

I have a Maxtor 7L250RO 250 GB Hard Drive in my pc.

My problem is that the usage shows around 150 GB but through the files I can only account for around 40GB. I have checked this by using 'Folder Sizes' software.

How can I possibly have 110GB missing?

Please help

My System

Welcome to TSF

goto programs, admin tools, computer managment, disk managment, there you will find your missing 110gb unpartitioned, now open the unpartitioned area and create the remaining space into 1/2/or 3/ partitions its your choice on the extra partitions, once you create the partitions it will give you the option to format the drive(s) you created "note" do not format your C: drive.
now you can exit, reboot your pc and your other drives should appear.

Thanks for your suggestion TSF Enthusiast

Sorry for not replying sooner but been on holiday.

In Disk Management, c: drive is showing as one partition. I can see no mention of unpartitioned areas. Reads 225GB healthy drive with 84GB free space.

Can you think of anything else.

Click the tools menu>folder options>view. “Check show hidden files and folders”. Uncheck “hide protected operating system files” , Might account for some

You may also want to go to the security section of TSF and post a hijack this log to make sure your system is clean.
