Computer doesn't recognize new drive
I barely know anything about the inside of a computer but I just installed my new samsung dvd burner into my computer in the same slot my cd rom/writer was installed using the same plugs that were plugged into my cd rom. My computer does not recognize the new drive at all but it does have power(the tray will push in and out.)
I tried to "add/install new hardware" but that did not find anything. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! Andy |

Welcome to TSF
pull the drive out if you installed it. check the jumpers on your old drive and jumper the dvd the same as the old drive... there should be 3 jumper pin in the rear of the drive : : : CSM C=cable select S=slave M=master reinsert the drive once you've set the jumpers/ plug the ribbon and power plug. power on you pc / when the os loads should show the new drive is being detected and installed. any problem post again |
