Computer will not boot up!!!!
I was going to reformat my computer...when i restarted it, and booted into the WindowsXP CD-ROM, it formated the drive....i left the house in the middle of this....when i returned i found the computer restarting over and over again...it should of been loaded into the windowsxp install screen. i tried installing it the second time, so when it restarted again it come up "disk read error...press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart". The MBR recognizes all the drives and hard drive, but will not boot off the HDD. I am completely clueless on what to do....Is my HDD screwed?????

Welcome to TSF, Saucy
click on this link: drive manufacturer’s utilities.. find the manufacturer of your drive and download the utility. From that, you will make a bootable cd or floppy. Change your boot order or priority to boot to that disk and follow the directions to wipe or zero the drive (same thing just different terminology), then partition and format. Zeroing the drive will remove all corrupt data and leave you with a like new drive ready for windows to be installed Feel free to post back with any questions or concerns. Bill |
