Yes, I know that. But, as previously posted above, with the provided links, I should be able to clear my Hard Drive and start over from scratch.

And yes, I do have a floppy drive.

So basically, I download everything I need to on the floppy, run the floppy and follow the directions, and then reinstall Windows XP? I don't have to delete anything?

Go to this link. support.wdc.com/download/ You need “data lifeguard diagnostic for dos”- there’s a floppy version and a cd version-take your pick-they both do the same thing. This is what you need to zero the drive

Then you will need Data Lifeguard Tools 11.2 for DOS to partition and format the drive

Then install XP

Okay, so I got the .iso form of it and it's in .rar format. I just put a blank CD in, drag the .iso into the CD and copy it, right?

Because whenever I start up the computer and press F12 to go to the Boot Menu, I go down to the ID CD: Drive thing (the one that starts from the disc if it can) and nothing happens, it goes straight to the Windows loading screen.

I know.. did you read my post the whole way through..? I said that when I run it after I restart my computer and press F12 to get to the Boot Menu and go down to where I can run off the disk in my Disk Drive, it just goes directly to the Windows loading screen instead of going to the Set-Up for the HD.

I think I did something wrong copying it to the CD or something.. Did I do anything wrong? I insert the disk, drag the .iso file into the CD and click the "Copy these files" button and the .rar .iso file appears in the CD.

Ohh, the Set-up screen, okay, I know what you're talking about. I'll try that when I can get my hands on a blank floppy which should be soon.

OMG-please read the posts. Renegade stated he is using a cd and you keep giving instructions for a floppy

No. An iso is an image file that has to be burned to a cd. the burning process makes the disk bootable. just copying it to a disk doesn't do anything at all.

If you are going to use the cd version, make the cd the first boot device

Okay, so, I don't have a floppy so I'm just gonn ahave to work with a CD. So, how do I burn the .iso to the CD instead of just straight up copying onto the CD?

Okay, okay, I've figured out how to burn it to a disk. I downloaded Nero and I got the .iso onto a disk. The problem now is that when I get to the BIOS screen and select to run off of the disk in the disk drive, it goes to a screen that says:

Unable to locate the License Agreement file, DLGLICE.TXT.
Make sure that the License and Agreement is in the same path as DLGDIAM.EXE

I've burned it twice and it's happened both times.

I have looked through the disk and it does contain the DLGLICE.TXT License and Agreement thing. Soo..

What now?

Did you read what I just posted?

The CD thing won't work for some reason. I double checked and made sure that the License and Agreement thing is in the DIAG.EXE disk that I made.

This is where I am stuck. I'm not on installing Windows XP yet.

My apologies for all the confusion, we're getting no where fast. Lets restart this a simpler way.

Forget about the western digital downloads as previously posted.

Download the ultimatebootcd. On the left side is the Table of Contents in pink, click "Download UBCD">On the next page, download the basic version, iso image and save it to your desktop.

Next click tutorials- it gives step by step instructions on creating the disk with nero.

After you have created the disk shut down your computer with the cd in the drive.

When you reboot, change boot order to cd first to boot to the cd

UBCD has both of the western digital tools you need plus a whole lot more on one cd. it's one download, one cd to burn and we should be done.
