[SOLVED] SATA drive disappearing
Hi,
New to this forum but thought i'd post up a recent problem I had with a new SATA drive and how i resolved it in the hope it will help someone else. ok got a 80 gig sata and put it on channel 0 in my machine, formatted it and started using it all well and good. few days later it just disappeared from the my computer. tried to re activate the drive and got the following error in my event log. INTERNAL Error - The disk group contains no valid configuration copies (C10000B6) i should add i had this happen before this error and just by moving the drive to the other channel it brought it back for a couple of days, when it finally stopped working i got the error above. the disc was not in a raid but set to dynamic. I used a program from the net at this address http://www.cgsecurity.org/index.html?testdisk.html (the win version) following these steps it brought back the drive without any data loss. 1 Selected drive Analyze/Enter It showed up 1 partition. 2 It started to analyze cylinders (takes some time). 3 Showed - Structure: OK Use arrow keys to change partition 4 Enter to continue 5 selected write new partition table 6 restarted the computer 7 soooorted! after that drive reappeared, all data there working fine. hope this is of help to someone in the future. seeya Booradley |

Re: SATA drive disappearing
A special thanks to booradley and the forum to provide for a platform of sharing knowledge.
Booradley's suggested program has just successfully saved 750GB of my data: I had a hybrid RAID 5 (4&250GB) running on sil3114 controller got disappeared over-night for god know reasons. The RAID manager reported the array was intact and all disks were fully functional and the RAID was online. But the Windows' disk manager reported error message: "INTERNAL Error - The disk group contains no valid configuration copies (C10000B6)". I followed booradley experience and successfully savaged my data. ![]() Big big thank you to booradley and the forum! |

The Solution explained - Rewrote the Partition Table Instantly ... and WinXP activated the drive. U Have No idea how important all the Data recoverred was. Thx again |
