2 Operating Systems - 2 Drives
I have 98se on the master drive and want to install XP on the slave.
Can this be accomplished by changing the BIOS to recognize the slave drive first or is it better to swap the two drives so the XP will be installed on the master. My current master drive is about to die but I want to retain the data long enough to transfer it onto the drive with XP. |

I agree with Doby if you install XP on the new drive while the old drive's hooked up, it may write the boot sector on the old drive making the XP drive dependent on the dying drive. Then when it goes out you will have to go into the XP drive and manually edit the boot sector which can be a pain.
