hard drive problem
I recently bought a new computer and I put my old hard drive in it along with the new one. For some reason the drive I set to master will boot and work fine. The slave one, I can access files on it, but my programs are gone. WHY? Does anyone know why or how I can get my programs back?

Hi and welcome to TSF,
Since you can access your files, by “gone” I’m going to assume you mean the programs on the old drive no longer work. If that’s correct, it’s because the programs were installed on drive c:\ and the programs continue to look for the files they need to run on the drive named c: That is know as the “path”. Since you moved that drive, it’s name has been automatically changed to d:, but the path the programs look for remains the same so the files needed no longer exist on the drive now known as c:\. Unfortunately, there is no fix except to re-install the programs on the new drive or to use the old drive as your boot drive and that would require, at a minimum, a repair install of windows on the old drive. Hopefully this answers your question. Post back for further clarifications or concerns. May be I or some one else can explain things in a clearer way. Bill |

Thanks! that does answer my question. Too bad there's no way to fix it. actually tho, i can reinstall the programs on the other drive.
i have another question tho, since i did that i been getting a error message every time i log on. it says something like there's no ATI driver installed and the ATI control panel will exit. is that something I need? |
