External vs. Internal Performance
I have ordered a an external hard drive. Before reinstalling such programs as games and such on the new hard drive I have a question. What might the performance be like on the new hard drive? Should I just leave things such as this on the internal hard drive?
New External Hard Drive: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=A0496771 WD Dual-Option Combo External Drive hard drive - 320 GB - FireWire / Hi-Speed USB Existing Internal Hard Drive: Sony Vaio PCG-K35 80GB 4200 RPM ...I don't really no much more about the hard drive in the notebook... Thanks for the help!!! |

Normally internal drives have faster transfer speed than external drives. This is because the limited speed of USB. However this speed is usually negligible.
I hope you didn't pay that much for that drive. |

Also I had noticed that this was for a laptop. Another good external drive is one of the smaller ones like this.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822154407 That are smaller than most external drives plus they do not require an AC adapter because it draws power from the USB port. Very portable. |
