adding second hard drive problem

I want to add a 2nd hard drive and i am having problems. Any hekp is appreciated.

First of all, the two HD are this;

Master - Samgung 40 gb Sp4002H
Secondary - Western digital WD 600 60 gb

When i attached the secondary HD and turned on compter. it autodetected nothing on the primary master or secondary but recognized them as secondary master and secondary. ( dont get that??) it loaded up Windows 98 fine.

In system it shows both devises and says that both are working correctly.

In My computer, it only shows the c drive.

i went into fdisk and changed over to my second HD. My information on 2nd drive is:

Display Partition Information

Current fixed disk drive: 2

Partition Status Type Volume Label Mbytes System Usage
1 A NTFS 57239 100%

Total disk space is 57239 Mbytes (1 Mbyte = 1048576 bytes)

i am lost as to where to go from here. HD 2 is out of a that was running win XP while HD 1 is running win98?

uh my first thoughts would be to try booting with just one drive in at a time.
next up check your jumper settings and ensure the cable is defiantly in the primary channel on the mobo.

Hello and welcome to TSF,

Your 2nd (60 gig drive) is formatted NTFS and win 98 doesn't support NTFS. That's at least part of the problem. Why not make that master and boot to xp or install a boot manager?
