Best way to transfer data

Not sure if I am posting this in the correct forum, but here goes:

I have some older friends who recently sold their business. Their business system is WIN 95 running QuickBooks 2001; floppy drive, no CD drive, no modem, no USB ports. The only open ports on the back of the system are a parallel and a serial.
Their home system has QB installed also. I need to retrieve their QB info (company data and AR data) and copy it on to their home system so they can continue to invoice and collect on their AR accounts.
What would be the easiest way to do this?
As always, all help is appreciated.

Doesn't Quickbooks just back up to a floppy? If so, back it up and restore it on the other machine. Of course, that is if the version on the home system is running the same, or a compatible version of Quickbooks.

Hi,

The machine should have at least one PCI slot.

Look for a PCI network card and network the two machines.

If there is no PCI slot, then look towards an ISA network card. Google gives >5,000,000 hits for ISA network card.

If there is an essential feature currently provided by a PCI card except graphics, look towards a combination PCI card giving more than one function on the single PCI card.

You could also consider mounting the hard drive in a machine as the master drive on a base unit that has onboard Ethernet or NIC.

May have some problems running the newer hardware but ??

edit for terrible spelling.

Yes, QBs backs up some data to a floppy, but because they never set-up their company on their home system, I need several files other than just the standard backup. I.E., the tax table, and all the company information files.

Any other thoughts? :)

I really don't want to get into that much work :) if there is another way around it. Is there such a thing as an external hard drive that will connect with either a OS2 or paralell adapter? Think I will go "google" that.
Thanks for the reply.

Why not remove the drive and slave it on the other machine and copy the data over

there are serial cables you can use to transfer info across, a little slow but just an idea.
