Laptop Hard Disk Drive in Desktop

I want to connect a laptop hard disk drive to my desktop computer to get my data off it.
What would I need to do this?
Thanks a lot.

Look for a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter. It shouldn't be too hard to find.

If not, you can get a boot disc from the internet and use it to recover data. Download and burn this one if you can:

Just use the existing PC.

And most importantly a 44 pin to a 40 pin + power connector adapter.

Adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812203012

Or you could just connect them with an ethernet cable and share the laptop hard disk.

You need a special power cable? I've done that before perfectly fine without a power cable.

I have. Try it without and if it does't work get the power adapter.

I have the cable now, which has a power adaptor with it, but my computer is not registering it at all.
Any ideas on what I could do?

Is the drive installed as a master? Most laptop hard drives are default to master.

Set it as a slave in the BIOS.

If you set it as slave in the bios you will need to add jumpers to the hard drive though.
