format hard disk using Partition Magic

I have a hard disk, which has several partitions. I would like to format the hard disk and make 1 NTFS partition. I use Partition Magic, how do I do this? I see settings for partitions only.

Hello:

you can use (and I prefer such an approach for many reasons we wont get into unless you desire such info) Partition Magic to make the partitions then you can use Win XP duisk managment to format to the NTFS file system. PM wont have NTFS avaialble as a format option because NTFS is a secret of Microsoft. Some of the Hard drive makers have drive set-up software that downloadable off their websites for free that does have the NTFS formatting included with it.

hope this helps / dont hesitate to ask more questions

What do you mean by this? I used Partition Magic to format a partition to NTFS.

Hello:

I stand partially corrected:

Partition Magic Version 8.0 does format the partition to NTFS as stated here. The last edition I used; version 7.0 did not actually format the partition; but would set-up the partition parameters for use by NTFS formating within the OS itself

Quote from PM 8.0

What's New in This Release:
· New file management features that include the ability to browse files, and view and manipulate files or folders on multiple types of file systems. · New NTFS features enabling you to choose the cluster size on creating a new NTFS partition or changing the cluster size of an existing NTFS partition, and NTFS format versioning (NTFS 1.4 to the latest). (This feature requires 256 MB of RAM for drives over 120 GB in size). · Enhanced Copy Partition functionality letting you choose the partition type (logical or primary) for the destination partition and whether that partition is to be resized. · Changes in the UI, primarily in the main screen, that adopts a Windows XP look and feel. · Support for Linux EXT2 and EXT3 file systems. · Support for partitions up to 160 GB, containing up to 145 GB of data.

The hard disk has several partitions. How can I format the hard disk and not only partitions, to make 1 NTFS partition?

you gotta Fdisk it at C: Prompt by typing C:\fdisk then delete all partitions and create a new one.
