Directx did not copy a required file

I try to install directx but this error comes up that says "directx did not copy a required file" and then a windows ballon comes and says dxwsetup.exe - corrupt file. I wehn to microsoft and found the problem, but that doesn't work. %SystemRoot%\system32\dxxpdbg is not existing. I did a google search and no help. I went to http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;822798 and did half the methods and no help.

If i install using the full package then it says, "An internal system error occured. Please refer to DXERROR.log and Directx.log in your Windows folder to determine the folder"

i ran it in safe mode still doesn't work

I forgot to mention i left chkdsk running and when it was done. It was like XP reinstalled by it self. All users have been deleted and all drivers have to be reinstalled again. I never seen such a thing. And while installing the drivers errors have up for everything say corrupt file, but i managed to install them all even tho they said corrupt file. But directx is the only one that is having a real problem.
