DVD ROM not working

I just got a DVD-R "LG GSA-4167B 16X Super-Multi Internal DVD Writer". I replaced my old CD-ROM for the DVD-R because i didn't have nuff wires to hook up both of them. But I have trouble installing it. It ejects and closes. ANd in device manager theres a exclamation mark beside it. When it make it disappear Everytime i put a CD in it says the cd is corrputed. When i restart the computer the exclamation mark comes back and i have to install the DVD-R from device manager. and same problem still doesn't work, every cd or dvd is corrupted. It came with the software... but it says its corrputed.
