[SOLVED] Drivers for Inspiron 6000

Hi,

We had a virus on our laptop that a year ago neither Dell nor Microsoft could help us eliminate. Unfortunately when our Norton's expired the virus took over the computer. As a last resort after many, many hours we finally got the computer to reformat. The problem, ALL of the discs from Dell do not show the drivers for the Inspiron 6000 (we have about 3 other Dells). If I access the Dell site from another computer, it won't allow us to save the drivers but instead wants to install them. At this point we can't access the internet, can't set up the wireless or anything else. Can someone help direct us to a place where we can we can find these drivers?

Thank you,

Laura Glenn

Re: Drivers for Inspiron 6000

Hi and welcome!

You should be able to save the drivers you need onto the "other" system.
  1. Go to the DELL SUPPORT website
    http://support.dell.com/support/inde...=us&l=en&s=dhs
  2. Click on Drivers & Downloads
  3. Select Choose by Service Tag
  4. Enter your service tag
    http://support.dell.com/support/topi...sd&~mode=popup
  5. Click on the GO button
  6. Select your operating system
  7. Locate the driver you want to download
  8. Click DOWNLOAD button
  9. If prompted to use the manger or use HTTP - select HTTP by pressing the download button in the USE HTTP selection area
  10. When prompted to RUN, SAVE, or CANCEL
  11. Select SAVE

You should be able to save the drivers and then transfer them to a media that will work in your other system!

Thanks!

Re: Drivers for Inspiron 6000

Thank you - that helped a lot! What has me so frustrated is that my supposed drivers and utility disc didn't have my model computer on it so I couldn't update from that. I was able to download from the website and have things running - but not exactly the same as before (the icon for the wireless now looks like an upside down behive instead of the usual icon) but at this point - I will take it!

Thank you again!

Re: Drivers for Inspiron 6000

Hi and you are welcome.

Your system will appear somewhat different because you do not have all of the DELL software installed on it. Don't feel bad, I have worked with numerous people who have multiple systems from one manufacturer and can't seem to find the one they need.

The main thing is that your system is working and working properly?

Thanks! If you feel your problem has been resolved, please mark it SOLVED using the THREAD TOOLS.

Have a wonderufl day!
