removed the old driver. can't install new one

I needed to update my old driver for my video card in order to play a video game.

But the same error messages keep showing up:

INF error: no video driver found
try setup video adapter with a standard VGA driver

and then the setup exits.

I removed my ATI Display Drivers. Both Mobility Raedon 7500 as well as Mobility M7.

Now I can't find my old video drivers in the backup files in drivermax.

I've done exactly what people have been telling me:
remove old driver
reboot & start in VGA mode
install new driver
reboot

HELP???

Re: removed the old driver. can't install new one

You can use an app such as Driver Cleaner to ensure all of the old ATI drivers are uninstalled properly.

Then simply download the updated driver from ATI. Ensure you are getting the correct driver for your chipset.

Re: removed the old driver. can't install new one

I've tried everything. It keeps giving me the same errors. I removed all of the drivers and tried to install. But it keeps telling me no video driver found.

I run on Mobility Raedon 7500. Am I suppose to get Raedon 9000 or something from ati?

I can try Driver Sweeper, but I'm not sure if I need to remove everything on the checklist or just the display driver. I don't want to erase more than I'm suppose to and f-up my laptop.

Re: removed the old driver. can't install new one

You will want to uninstall all of the software and drivers.

And since you have a laptop, you could just as easily go to the manufacturers website and get all of the needed drivers.

Re: removed the old driver. can't install new one

what does it mean when the error says

try to setup video adapter with a standard VGA driver

because it still gives me the same error messages.

Re: removed the old driver. can't install new one

I've never seen that error. Try changing the driver to a generic Windows driver.
