Blue Screen error with file ati3dlag.dll

I'm trying to play GTA San Andreas on my laptop, which is very old (2002)

The error occurs when ever I start a new game and it goes into a cut scene.

I get a blue screen that says error with the file ati3dlag.dll. blah blah blah and then dumping of physical memory... I just force shutdown at that point (I hope it's not bad to my comp...)

Based on some searching, it appears that the problem is probably because the driver on my video card is out of date, and I need to update it. But what are some other possible causes? And how do I update my driver?

You may update your drivers using the ATI Drivers link in my signature.

You may also want to check if you have Service Pack 3 and DirectX 9.0c, you can find this using Windows Update.

OK. Sorry, I'm blank when it comes to hardware stuff. So I have no idea how to find the compatible update.

My Driver is Mobility Raedon 7500. I'm pretty sure there's a compatibility issue here. I'm not sure if anyone provides updates for this driver anymore.

You can go here to update your graphics chip.

Meanwhile, go to Windows Update

Yes, you'll need to uninstall the old driver, reboot, then install the new one, then remove again. To uninstall the old ones use DriverSweeper.

Re: Blue Screen error with file ati3dlag.dll

I removed the ATI Display Driver using the add/remove program window, and now when I try to install the new driver, it's giving me an error "no video driver found" or something like that. Did I erase the wrong thing?

When I go to Driver Sweeper, check the entire checklist and click analyze, there's still all of these things that were there before that are still there.

Now I don't have my ATI Display Driver anymore and I can't install the new one because it's giving me the error "no driver found" what do I do?

btw. I needed to update my .NET framework in order to install the new driver. So I did that, do I need to remove my old .NET framework or was that taken care of during the setup?

Re: Blue Screen error with file ati3dlag.dll

ok now I extracted my old driver from the backup files. I got my old driver back and I rebooted. But the new driver setup is still telling me no video driver found.

Re: Blue Screen error with file ati3dlag.dll

I'm getting the same damn errors.

INF error Video Driver not Found

I started it up in VGA mode, and I didn't even remove the old driver (because I'm being told that the new one is suppose to replace the old one).
