Floppy disc problem

I have a whole bunch of old floppy discs which have old pictures on them - I bought an external flioppy disc drive, connected via USB port. I inserted the floppy into the drive and went to My Computer/ drive A floppy, and double clicked to open. It makes all the sounds and then comes back with message: "The disk in Drive A is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" If I hit yes, won't I lose all the pictures on the disk??

Anyone have any ideas what I could do to make this project work??

Thank you!

Re: Floppy disc problem

Yes, if you format the disk all of the data will be lost. With that said, it's likely lost anyway. Last time I checked my floppies before I discarded them, many of them had already died a similar death.

All I could suggest would be to find another PC with a floppy drive and try the disk. Another drive may have better luck.
