Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7
Did you have Windows 7 RC x64 or x86 installed?
If RC x64, the same drive should work with RTM x64 |

Quote:
START | devmgmt.msc ` EDIT: Did you install Windows 7 RC or did someone else? Where did you get the driver from that you installed in Windows 7 RC? You said in post #1 that the driver was installed and the network was working. Wherever you got that driver from - that is the same one to use under Windows 7 RTM. Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
Do you have any USB errors (or any other errors) in the Device Manager?
Please post all errors if you have them. What is the make and model of this computer? Bill

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
Try this:
Extract the driver to a folder. Plug in the USB Adapter If win7 detects the USB device and attempts to install it cancel the install. Go to the Device Manager You should "see" an error (Yellow!) for the USB device Right click on the error>Update Driver Guide win7 to where you extracted the driver to. See if win7 will install the driver

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
Look under Network Adapters (in the Device Manager) to see if it is listed there.

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
I am really stumped ... that is why I came here for assistance .... I use this same usb wlan device on my vista x64 computer with no issues ... that is how I keep responding to you. so I don't believe it is my device .... Honestly it apprears under network adapters ... says atheros blah blah .... then after a second it disappears .... hmm ... I went to my mobo site and downloaded the latest win7x64 drivers and installed them ... still same issue .... so not sure now .... do I have the right driver? I downloaded from the link you gave me earlier ... that is the only thing I can think off.

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
Can I get a screenshot of the Device Manager with all the + opened
You may have to take two screenshots. Did you install the driver As run as Administrator? Have you tried to install the driver in compatiblity mode: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...4-a1ab826059b7 Bill

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
I have my screenshots ... I notice a exclamation that I didn't see before ... so I am guessing that is my issue ... so maybe you can offer some advice on what that unknown device is? thanks...

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
I believe the unknown device is your problem.
Can I get the exact make and model of this wireless adapter? The Atheros 5007UG is the chipset not the make and model. Bill

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
Was the USB adapter plugged in when you rebooted the computer?
With the adapter removed do you get the error? Can I get the exact make and model of this wireless adapter?

Re: wirless network adapater driver for windows 7[MOVED]
i have uninstalled all my wlan drivers ... so now it comes up with only one error ... and that is usb 2.0 wlan with the yellow exclamation mark .... I right click say update driver ... find the driver on my computer and say install .... it says success .... I unplug and plug back in usb device and same stuff happens .... it appears for a second then disappears ... hmm....
I don't have a model number for you ... on the usb device it says retail plus .. i looked on the box it came in and I don't see any model info ... so not sure .. I also had this same driver working on windows 7 release candidate ... so not sure why it isn't working with the rtm ... build 7600.1635.090713-1255 x64 any other suggestions dude? |
