Intel Pro /100M failure or drivers missing?
I have no link/network connection on this feature.
Spec:Dell 8250 desktop, integrated Intel network connection. Intel ProSetversion 14.5.1.0. Checked link speed: no speed. Speed and Duplex: autodetect. Diagnostics: Link- "this adaptor has no link" ; Cable and Harware passed OK. I have been troubleshooting this issue for a while now, but do not get closer to an answer whether the connector is fysically at its end or that it has to do with installed drivers or something else. I have run Belarc, this shows that the card is recognized, but it says that there are no drivers found for the connection. I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the Pro /100 M connector. Also program setspeed.exe is not running? at least it doesn't show to have any impact. Respect your support in getting this cleared. |

Re: Intel Pro /100M failure or drivers missing?
What are you connecting to? If it is a known good cable/switch that works on another PC, then you should at least be getting a link light on the Dell. If you aren't getting a link light, then you likely have a hardware issue.

Re: Intel Pro /100M failure or drivers missing?
Open the Device Manager
Post All errors (yellow !) On these errors please do this: Right click on the error>Properties>Details Tab Post the info you find under Device Instance ID Do this for each error you have Are you sure you installed the correct driver for your LAN? Dell list an Intel and a Broadcom driver for this model. Bill Last edited by BCCOMP; 10-31-2009 at 12:13 PM. |

So I am getting closer to a conclusion the hardware failed? On the other hand the hardware test showed everything to be ok. |

Tried to ping the router/modem. negative. When I connect the linksys wireless again pinging is succesful. Cycled the modem and router and repeated the procedure. Same results. Have enclosed a screen shot including additional info on the link.

Re: Intel Pro /100M failure or drivers missing?
Have you tried another ethernet cable?
Will another computer connect to the router via Ethernet cable (hard wired)? Bill Last edited by BCCOMP; 11-02-2009 at 09:40 AM. |

Re: Intel Pro /100M failure or drivers missing?
Itr appears you have a failed NIC (On Board) on the mother board.
The easiest thing to do is install a PCI Nic card (under $20.00). Bill |
