NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT driver help

My operating system is windows xp professional with service pack 3,my graphics card is a nvidia geforce 7600 gt(it was overclocked when purchased, by some company called BFGTech). When I update to the latest drivers for my graphics card and then restart my pc, the screen resolution and colour quality changes, once logged in I go to properties and try to change the resolution back to 1280 by 1024 pixels, I then click apply but the changes don't take. I understand that this happens when you install the wrong driver for your graphics card, but this is the driver that the nvidia website tells me I should be installing. Can anyone help me? Sorry if my post is a little cluttered.

I checked those manuals out but they didn't help much, I still don't know why when I update to the latest drivers for my graphics card my resolution and color quality goes crappy, and won't let me change to normal resolution and color quality.

Try changing your video driver to a generic Windows driver, reboot, goto Add and Remove Programs and uninstall any nVidia video drivers listed, reboot, and then try installing the latest driver.

The latest driver for your card appears to be this one: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_191.07_whql.html

On a side note, it's not uncommon for the latest release to not work with all models. You may need to use an older version. BFG is also one of the better video card makers with a lifetime warranty on their cards. I've good luck using their tech support as well as simply using nVidia tech support.
