[SOLVED] Code 39

So, not that long ago, my audio stopped working all together. I've tried everything from system restores to downloading the drivers from device manager, but nothing. I'm running off a vista home system.

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Re: Code 39

So, apparently, this is the problem:

"Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 39."

Could something in my dorm have caused this? An outside source?

Re: Code 39

Oh dear, sorry I forgot to mention.

It's my audio drive.

I'm using a Realtek High Definition Audio setup.

Re: Code 39

ha ha, funny story.

So I took my comp to Geek Squad, and they told me that the motherboard was fried. They suggested I could get a new soundcard, and I did. I left it with them overnight. So I went to Bestbuy the next morning, and they told me that it had to be some sort of virus.

Disappointed, I took the comp back to my dorm and hooked it up... but I had an itchy feeling, so I plugged in my speakers.

LO AND BEHOLD, IT WORKS! And even better, we got refunded for the soundcards!

Motherboard fried... HA!

Thanks for all the help, you guys.
