Display Driver nightmare pls help

Please Help with Driver issue
I recently tried to view a game and it made my computer go crazy with spots and lines. It turned off and said my Display Driver caused it. I did everything from Uninstalling it, Restoring computer, everything possible.

Sometimes it works and sometimes I have to restart the computer several times restoring it until it works.

I have updated driver. This is making me crazy.. Someone please help me...

Hello...
You need to provide us with system specifications...

Maybe graphic card is dying slowly...
Or you have less power that your PC need...

Keep us posted...

Re: Display Driver nightmare pls help

Hi
thanks for replying. I am really desperate.
My Driver is a Nvidia GeForce 8600m.
I went to the website and updated the current version also.
I have uninstalled it and updated it. It works a while maybe 1 day then again I have to restore, and turn it on and off until it works.

Re: Display Driver nightmare pls help

Wait a second...
Is this a laptop or desktop PC???
What CPU, RAM, PSU, Motherboard your PC/laptop is running???
We need to know about these parts to further provide additional responses...

Now, you need to un-install all graphic card drivers from Control Panel > Programs...
Restart PC...
Install the newest graphic card drivers for your graphic card...
Restart PC...
Note: Make sure you completelly uninstall graphic card drivers...
You can use Driver Swipeer:

It is a laptop. Hp Pavilion dv9500. Os is Vista. I will get the other spef. as soon as I can get it to load normally.

Re: Display Driver nightmare pls help

My model is a dv9000 Entertainment series which it says in the front but in the service tag underneath it says dv9500. it would be the DV9500 OR DV900CTO NOTEBOOK

I am able sometimes to boot in safe mode without lines. Maybe once lines did show but usually not. It gives me that option but sometimes it only displays start normal or restore or repair something like that.

No my laptop is no longer under warranty.

Re: Display Driver nightmare pls help

No, I don't experience lines before operating system is booted.

It appears after the os is staring after that black screen is loading. It shows the lines and then a blue screens with crazy numbers and turns off. so I restore it but not all the time it works. so I do it over and over until it loads normal. I use it maybe 1 day and again I go through it. If I'm lucky it starts normal.

I got it to load normal now.

You have both ATI and nVidia graphic drivers installed :P
Un-install ATI - DISPLAY, nVIDIA - DISPLAY and nVIDIA - Psysx...
Restart PC and install only nVidia graphic card drivers [Psysx is included]

Keep us posted...

Thumbs Up Re: Display Driver nightmare pls help

I clicked to analyze the ATI display and there are no files there.

I thank you very much for you time, patience and hopefully this worked. If it doesn't I will come back and see if maybe its something else. I am glad there is a site and a forum like this to help. Thank you again for everything.

Re: Display Driver nightmare pls help

You should manually install graphic card drivers...
Download nVidia graphic card drivers from HP's Web Site...
Un-install graphic card drivers...
Restart PC...
Manually install nVidia graphic card drivers...
Restart PC...

I think Vista just reinstalled old drivers, did not update them and stuff...
You have to install graphic card drivers from HP's Web Site and make sure you install only the nVidia ones, not ATI...
