The disappearing driver

Hi guys this is my first post on this site but I am not a computer illiterate though. My problem is that when I start my computer my audio driver disappears completely and without a trace. After that happens my computer Blue screens. I am using my onbord sound btw and it uses avrach audio driver and has a default driver of ac 97. When I try to reinstall driver all that happens is that my sound works for a min and then the line in tester comes on and boom blue screen again and driver is gone. I tried a sound card but it relies on the systems default audio driver and all that did was make the mute function flicker on and off and blue screen some more. I think it may be a hardware problem with my onbord because if I don't attempt to use the sound I can do things just fine. I have tried many drivers as well and the same thing happens. Any hints would be great because I am thinking I need a new motherboard and I would like to avoid that. Thanks.
