XP laptop drivers needed

I have a problem and i would really need some help.
so i bought a new laptop..and i installed windows XP on it. and when i try to install the video card driver it gives me a error saying that i do not have the requiered hardware does not exist.. my video card is an ATI RADEON HD 512 MB OF RAM. can somebody please tell me why i cannot install the driver ?

Have you installed the chipset drivers for the motherboard?
What brand and model laptop do you have?

As wrench97 stated make sure the chipset driver is installed first.

Is this a downgrade from Vista to XP?

For some ATI cards to install after downgrading to XP you may have to modify the ATI Driver.

To modify the ATI driver go to this site:
http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

Follow the directions toward the end of the page.

Also please post the make and model of this laptop
