[SOLVED] Network Adapter or Ethernet Controller
Hi
I just did a fresh install of xp pro on a HP Pavilion a220n and I don't have any driver disks. I can not set up an Internet connection. I'm confused for two reasons. The only Network Adaptor showing is the 1394 Net Adaptor; and the Ethernet controller and the SM Bus Controller devices have the big yellow ? I have been to the HP driver download site and do not see drivers or information for either of these components. Can I be helped? Thank you for your time

Hi, You should go to the bottom of the page to original drivers and get the chipset and network adapter drivers. The chipset will take care of the SMbus, reboot and install the network adapter driver. The chipset should always be installed first.

Re: Network Adapter or Ethernet Controller
Thank you so much!
When will I learn to ask y'all before I spend HOURS on stuff like this. I didn't read the offered drivers carefully and didn't know the "chipset first" reboot rule. Thanks again
