DVD drive not responding
When i try to acess a DVD or CD the disk spins but nothing happens from there on in. So i go to my computer to see if the disk shows and there is nothing there just my hard drived C: and D:
In my control panel, driver status it acknowledges that my dvd drive is there but there is a yellow information mark beside it. The same happens with my external dvd rom drive as well. please help. Thankyou |

You can try uninstalling the drive in Device manager and Windows will reinstall it on boot.

And also i have an acer travelmate 2420. i want to use my dvd drive to format my computer but all my recovery files are on a dvd. Is there any other way to format my computer????? Thanks

Did you try what I posted? Laptop optical drives are usually very cheap units and are prone to early failure.
To boot from the external USB drive, you will have to set the Bios to boot from USB. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstr...otusbflash.htm

I am trying the fix now. I had to download it on other computer as internet browsers do not work on my acer. I think that it should work as i uninstalled NTI dvd/cd burner a while ago and that might have caused the problem.

yes it is but you need a firewall also if you want good security for the pc. I recommend zone alarm firewall the free version here: http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en...e-firewall.htm
