[SOLVED] I Am In Need Of Drivers

I am looking for Drivers for an HP Pavilion a6863w-b. This Computer has Vista Home Premium with SP1. The HP web site does not have XP drivers listed for this model. I am looking to do a clean XP install. Are there any third party drivers or drivers compatible with this model ? These are the Vista Drivers for reference.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...957630&lang=en

If someone could help me find XP Drivers that would be good. Thanks in advanced

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

You will need to run CPUZ to determine the actual equipment on the board.
The graphics drivers can be found here:http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca.../integrated-xp

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

How will that help in finding drivers ? Where should I host the info file ? & do you need the whole info file (quite long) or only a certain part ?

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

I only need the data on the "Mainboard" tab in the Motherboard box. You can just take a screen shot and add it as an attachment if you like or you can actually make a post with the information that was requested. As for the info file you can just destroy it. There is no need for it.

The attachment window is taking way to long to load so here is a sendspace link to the jpg

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

Sorry for taking a bit of time to find and verify each driver. The specs were difficult to extract from HP and MSI.

NIC Driver:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...4&DownTypeID=3

Sound Driver:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

Video and Chipset Driver:
<See Second Post>

If I missed any drivers please state which ones. I am working from the manufacturer specifications so I will miss any custom equipment that is installed.

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

The NIC driver is for the equipment that interfaces with the wired network. It will allow your computer to be connected to the internet. Windows uses a generic disk driver to access optical drives so the only thing you need to do to make your DVD drive work is install XP. I showed you where to get the video and sound drivers. The chipset driver is integrated into the video driver. That is pretty much all the drivers that are on the list.

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

Well I tried reformatting like I usually do

I set the Bios Boot settings to CD Rom
It loads the Windows CD
Then it loads / reads files off of the CD
It reads everything fine & I have no problem
Then it says "Starting Windows"
& instead of "Starting Windows" I get the Blue Screen of death error

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

In BIOS you need to find a feature labeled RAID or AHCI and switch it to IDE or Compatibility. This is because of the way the hard drive is accessed in RAID and AHCI that requires special drivers that are not available in XP for your hardware. After changing this setting your computer should boot into XP normally.

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

I looked through the Bios settings & I found SATI or 1 Controller Mode & in these options were RAID & AHCI & IDE & there is another SATI or 1 Controller option with Enable & Disable. What should I do ?

Re: I Am In Need Of Drivers

Set the first one to IDE and the second one to Enable. You don't want to disconnect your hard drive by setting it to Disable. I think you mean SATA because I have never heard of SATI.

You can find the driver here;

It is labeled as South Bridge driver.
