Re: video controller driver starts in 8bit colors Help
download the driver from here and save it to your desktop where it is easy to find when you need it
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_186.18_whql.html then in the device manager uninstall the video card reboot tapping f8 and choose vga mode when windows finishes rebooting disable a/virus install your drivers reboot the computer if you are changing from onboard video to a card then use thsi method boot from the onboard in the device manager disable the onboard if the card is listed uninstall it turn the computer off install the card change the video cable from the onboard to the card reboot into the bios check to see if you can disable the onboard in there and set it to detect agp or pcie first save and exit the bios tapping f8 and choose vga mode when windows finishes booting disable a/virus install your drivers for the card reboot the computer

Re: video controller driver starts in 8bit colors Help
I did everything from your last post. All went smoothly and colors changed into 32bit. Restarted and color remained in 32bit, however when I started up next morning the same problem reoccured.

Re: video controller driver starts in 8bit colors Help
changed the cmos battery and now keep a shortcut to display on desktop. Bios is set to pci-e. in system manage there are 4 icons for video monitor ! is my current display and 3 are defalt no driver installed or needed, I have changed the 3 to disable not used. In display I now have 1 & 2 monitor with dropdown menue reading same for both.
I am certain that any of the experts on forum could solve this in about 2 min if they had hands on, but, by message I think this is impossible mission. Seems to be much more than drivers. Thank You all for your excellent help, it did solve many of my problems and questions. Will close this thread. Thank You |
