Possible ati2dvag issue
I've been having an issue with the ati2dvag.dll infinite loop error, but that doesn't seem to be my only problem.
Since I started having these issues, my computer starts locking up, forcing me to power it off and back on. After turning it back on, it occasionally doesn't get past the BIOS, and freezes in completely random places. There are even times where it boots, but the monitor doesn't turn on (I know it boots because my G15 keyboard turns on... or at least i believe). I'm going out of my mind here and I really don't know what else I have to do. I've tried: uninstalling everything to do with ATI and then using the Driver Sweeper program. I've swapped RAM sticks, taken one out, upgraded XP to sp3 (from sp2), reset my BIOS, taken out hardware to test if it helped (don't have another GPU nor does my MOBO have a built in card). This lead me to beleive it was my GPU. The one fix I haven't tried is reformatting my HD, but I'm trying to save that as a last resort. The only problem is, the problem is totally non-recreatable. Sometimes the computer boots just fine, sometimes it doesn't. After I initially got the error about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I uninstalled and reinstalled everything with ATI, and it worked for a week before starting again. Since I'm not on my home computer, nor do i have my boxes with me, I'm going to post my specs to the best of my knowledge. Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz Memory: 2046MB RAM Hard Drive: 250 GB Video Card: Radeon X1950 Pro Monitor: LCM 22w2 Sound Card: SoundMAX HD Audio Keyboard: Logitech G15 Mouse: USB Root Hub Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 Motherboard: ASUS M2N-E And before we go on, I've searched the internet thoroughly, and the only solution people have come up with as a possible fix for this is something that I can't seem to understand very well. They say to go into system devices to locate the CPU to AGP controller, but my GPU is PCI-E. And I've got about 5 different PCI to PCI controllers in my system device menu. I'm probably overlooking something here, but yeah... If I can get my computer to actually boot up when I get home, I'll try to update my info and provide a screenshot of my system device tree. Any help is very greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance, -Roeto- |

Update-
computer isn't even getting to the BIOS anymore. It turns on, but doesn't boot at all. The monitor just stays blank. Any help is very greatly appreciated, and I need it fixed ASAP, I've got online courses starting again soon :( |

Re: Possible ati2dvag issue
I will once I get the chance.
And there's a new issue now: The computer is finally loading, but it will only let me boot up in safe mode. Whenever I try loading regularly, it gets stuck at the windows loading screen... |

Re: Possible ati2dvag issue
Also, when in safe mode, whenever I try to do anything that may possibly help (undoing previous system restore, virus scan, disk cleanup, disk defrag, etc...), the program freezes, I start to hear ticking noises inside of my tower, and then the system blue screens...

Re: Possible ati2dvag issue
it could be lack of power especially if you cannot bring up the post screens or have difficulty booting
d/load and run the h/drive makers diagnostic utility on the h/drive http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
