OS: Split Hard drive (XP-Vista64)

"Driver is not intended for this platform"
I've recently been told by WoW to update my display drivers. Thinking it's talking about my newly installed HD Radeon 4850 Video card, I search for the most recent drivers and update them. I find at the end of the update the installation has failed?? It seems my computer is still running off of the motherboard's HD Radeon 3200 graphics. So I go into safe mode, uninstall all ATI files, disable my motherboards 3200, and restart. Only to reinstall the drivers for my new HD Radeon 4850. This still doesn't work, and the display drivers always fail with installation. When i ask windows to update the drivers for me the error always reads..."Driver is not intended for this platform" Is this because i have a split hard drive with Vistax64/XP? What am i doing wrong?

Re: "Driver is not intended for this platform"
make sure you are installing the correct version of the driver for the system you are in
i.e xp vista boot from the onboard in the device manager disable the onboard if the card is listed uninstall it turn the computer off install the card change the video cable from the onboard to the card reboot into the bios check to see if you can disable the onboard in there and set it to detect pcie first save and exit the bios tapping f8 and choose vga mode when windows finishes booting disable a/virus install your drivers for the card reboot the computer
