Please help!! drivers needed
I reformmatted my friends pc (Packard Bell bv istart 2311) with xp and stupidly deleted the recovery partition by mistake, now I can't find any of the drivers that it needs. I found this thread: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/driver-support/368288-need-xp-drivers-packard-bell-istart-2311-please.html But all the links are dead now, I only really need the ethernet drivers because then I can use driver genius to find the rest, but without the ethernet drivers i'm screwed! I don't see why packard bell don't have a straight forward site to download the drivers from but if any1 could help me i'd be sooooooooo grateful
![]() Also, if I install vista ultimate will the drivers be installed (I'm only asking because vista has tons of drivers pre-packed onto the disc) Please HELP!!!! Last edited by treesmoker08; 07-09-2009 at 10:50 AM. |

Re: Please help!! drivers needed
Is this site any good?
It says after entering your country & maybe your serial number you should have access to drivers. http://www.packardbell.com/support.htm

Re: Please help!! drivers needed
hello treesmoker08,
I did a search and didnt find anything either so try this if you are able to do you have an older system that does not work ? and does it have a pci ethernet card in it ? if it does then pull it out and install it to the system that has the issue XP has a small data base of drivers also for a selected cards that are generic but they will work 85 % of the time so you can get connected to get the drivers that you need the list is pretty large that it has now about Vista it might have the drivers / this list that it has is works the same way as xp so it would be trail and error and you might end up with the same situation that you are in now you might even be able to go to a repair shop and see if the have an older ethernet card that they will sell for maybe $5 to $10 let me know how it works

Re: Please help!! drivers needed
O.K i will have a look in the old PC's I have in the garage, but i was wandering if this would work
1. could I put a vista disc in and try to go to Control Panel> Add Hardware> *select ethernet*>Have Disc and install them that way Or 2. If I can install a wireless usb dongle and connect to my internet connection then use some software to search for the drivers (my guess if that driver genius and driver detective probably have the drivers on their database just packard bell is useless) you you rekon this could work EDIT: thanks Dai but I'm still getting 'this document contains no data' message. damn you packard bell Thankyou for all your replies, is there any way of me giving you +rep or anything Last edited by treesmoker08; 07-09-2009 at 11:47 AM. |

Re: Please help!! drivers needed
YES!!!!! its fixed! heres wat I did 4 the ethernet drivers:
1. used a belkin wireless USB to connect to my network 2. downloaded driver updater pro 3. scanned my computer for drivers that need updating 4. checked the manufacter of the ethernet drivers, which was 'Marvel' 5. went to Marvel site: http://www.marvell.com/drivers/search.do 6. downloaded drivers (there was only one downlaod package to choose from) 7. Bingo! Ethernet port works!!! Now I cant get the sound working (but because it came with vista installed I dunno if I can deffinatly get the sound working) I've tried load of realtek packages but non have worked, so now im letting driver genius try to find them for me, i'll keep you updated if I get the sound working Last edited by treesmoker08; 07-09-2009 at 05:41 PM. |
