Ok, I recently purchased a brand new HP G60-214EM Laptop, It works just fine apart from the fact it runs Windows Vista. I'm sure I'm not alone when I state that I hate windows Vista with a passion. I've recently tried to downgrade to Windows Xp Pro SP2 and Had all sorts of problems trying to find compatible drivers for it.
For Now I've bitten the bullet and put Vista back on back if there's anyone on here that can help me get the Xp drivers and help me "downgrade" (Although I think switching to XP should be considered as an upgrade) I would be most appreciative. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys/gals can offer me |

Re: HP G60-214EM Downgrade to XP Pro
You would need to go to each device manufacturer to get the drivers. Basically each piece of equipment needs their driver obtained from the company that make that specific part. HP like every other OEM is not providing the drivers for computers that where designed for Vista and nothing older.

Re: HP G60-214EM Downgrade to XP Pro
you may want to put win7 on it and see if you like it better. It is the full version and free.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../download.aspx As far as xp drivers, it is not going to be easy to find them. sometimes oem pars havve minor differences where the drivers from the manufacturers may not work. did you see the drivers at the following http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...79661&lang=en# also try searching google using your model number with the words xp drivers and see what you can find.

Re: HP G60-214EM Downgrade to XP Pro
Thanks for such a quick response guys....I did check the HP website and they only provide XP drivers for certain hardware items...The Touchpad, and DVD drive....I need to find drivers for A Card Reader, Built-In Webcam, Wi-Fi and Ethernet Controllers etc etc etc....
Is there any way of finding out exactly what is in this laptop? I mean I obviously can check the device manager list but it doesn't give me great detail....For Example.... I know from my previous attempt at downgrading that the GPU in the laptop is a Geforce 8200M G....I found the drivers for it once, and once they were installed it then brought up driver issues with a GPU Co-proccessor for which I could find no support what-so-ever. Re: HP G60-214EM Downgrade to XP Pro
for the most part, yes vista drivers will work with vista. You should not have to find a whole new set of drivers. I installed it on two computers without problems. The only driver I had problems with was my logitech webcam.

Re: HP G60-214EM Downgrade to XP Pro
Windows 7 is a corrected Vista. The same drivers work for both operating systems because they have the same core. Its just like 2000 and XP sharing drivers.
