Ethernet Controller
My Ethernet Controller has a question mark next to it in the device manager. I tried installing it from Hp.com. It didn't work. I found out you had to download ssm from hp. Even after that it still wasn't working.
I need help... My Comp is a "HP Compaq d220 Microtower Desktop PC", and my os is Windows XP Pro service pack 3 for refurbished computers. |

Re: Ethernet Controller
Did you only download and run the file? If not then you need to open the folder that install extracted the driver to and run the installation from there. OEM's never make life easy.

Re: Ethernet Controller
Well then go into Device Manager and on the Ethernet controller right click and select update driver. Then when it asks automatically find driver or if you select from list pick the second option. Then uncheck the removable media and check the include location. Then browse to the folder where the extracted drivers where left and if there are sub folders labeled XP and/or driver then aim it in those, otherwise aim it at the overall folder. The computer should now give you a list of one driver and then will automatically install it.
