ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
Hi, I can't get 2-channel sound with ABIT AT7-MAX2 integrated Realtek AC'97 sound. I've tried those drivers from www.abit.com.tw, but those ain't working neither. I have 5.1 Creative surround sound. I get sound from every speakers except the 2 channel ones, which are connected to Front Speaker Out, everything is connected correctly but i just can't get no sound. The problem came after i had put my pc together into another case. Before that the sound was working. My headphones doesn't work neither in that phone jack.

Re: ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
Okay, now i found out that i'm getting sound from the green jack (Line Out Jack), but the sound is extremely low, even when the Creative front speakers are turned max. And i have got everything in Volume Center maximum.

Re: ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
You might want to make sure that the plug is completely in the socket. When it is not only part of the electricity gets transferred and you end up hearing everything softer. You could also try getting the AC'97 drivers strait from Realtek.

Re: ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
Could i have possibly damaged my motherboard so i don't get the sound from those Front Speakers, i doubt it because, i have got 2 pc in my home and both have the same onboard realteck AC'97 sound, and neither of them work with 2- channel mode. both computers can have surround sound and the only speakers that ain't working are the front speakers which are connected to Front Speakers R+L jack

Re: ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
Realtek AC'97 on board sound cards have software along with the drivers for almost every board (they did when I used on board sound anyway). The software controls effects, sound volume, and how many speakers are used. Perhaps you never installed that software.

Re: ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
Hello,
Did you hookup the front jacks inside the tower? Are you using a sound card or is it integrated (onboard)? If the sound is quiet, then you may not have the proper and or updated driver for the pc.

Re: ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
Some on told in another forum:
Without going through 5 pages of posts, it also looks like you may need some hardware (i.e. cabling etc.) to increase the sound output. Either that or powered speakers What did he meant by hardware cabling etc.... maybe that's what's wrong with my pc. because I used the same windows and drivers that i had before moving my pc to another case. Everything was fine before that, i had sound then. |

Re: ABIT AT7-MAX2 sound problem
When they stated hardware they probably meant an amplifier. There are no cables as far as I know that can boost sound output unless they have better conductivity in the metal. Most have very slight differences that are not audible to the human ear so there should not be an issue with cables. Powered speakers are an idea since they include an amplifier built in but they could be expensive. The front jacks that where referred to are the 3.5mm speaker and microphone connectors located on the front of most modern cases. This should not however effect anything if you plugged the speakers on the rear ports.
