OS: Windows XP Home (don't know service pack)
|
I have been trying to fix this problem for over a week. Any help is appreciated! If I answer some of the specs wrong, forgive me.
OS: Windows XP How much memory is currently installed on your system? 256MB What is the processor speed of your CPU? 1400mhz What is the brand name (if it has one) and model number of your system? emachine T1400 Have you recently installed or uninstalled any software or hardware? If so, what? just the ethernet driver, did an uninstall and reinstall. Do you have up to date anti-virus software installed on your system? No, just bought it. Give us a full description of all symptoms you believe are linked to your computer question/problem. Simply put, it won't connect to the internet. In device manager, under "other devices" it lists that it needs a driver for an "ethernet controller." I've gone to the emachines website and they don't have a driver, only for sound, audio, and generic softk56 modem. I've been to realtek (the manufacturer of my ethernet card) and downloaded "Realtek gbe & FE ethernet PCI NIC driver" and "Realtek gbe & FE ethernet PCI-E NIC driver" I've googled my little heart to pieces and installed countless numbers of "ethernet drivers." Either theres a step im missing to installing a driver, or theres something more missing than an ethernet driver. |

Re: emachine t1400 missing "ethernet controller"
Are you using a separate Ethernet card or the Onboard? EMachines are terrible for support since Gateway bought them out a few years ago.
You can get a card for about $15, maybe less.
