VIA HyperionPro Driver "stops working" after restart?
Hi folks. I really hope that someone can give me a hand with this, because I've been pounding away at it all week and have come up with absolutely nothing.
I'm going to try to summarize the circumstances, so please let me know if more info is needed... Late last year I had the main board replaced in my old Compaq desktop PC. The original board had USB 2.0, but the replacement did not. So I bought a hi-speed USB PCI card and installed it, after which I found that the new USB ports were not functioning at hi speed. I was then advised to install the VIA Hyperion Pro Driver package, which seemed to fix the issue. Recently, however, I attached a new webcam (plugged in directly to the USB 2.0 PCI card) which informed me that my device was not functioning at hi speed. So I ran SETUP.EXE from the driver package again - problem solved. Unfortunately the issue reappears each time I restart my machine. And that, in a nutshell, is pretty much where I'm at. I've been stomping all over Google since Monday and haven't found a single bit of information regarding my problem. Some additional info... VIA HyperionPro Driver(5.x)Installation Guide - the driver packege I installed. Koutech USB 2.0 PCI (2 x Ext+2 x Int Header-pin) Model IO-PU222 - the PCI card I installed. And an Everest report of my PC... Re: VIA HyperionPro Driver "stops working" after restart?
Hello and Welcome to TSF,
When you installed the webcam, did you disable antivirus and antispyware protection? If not.... unplug the webcam then go into add/remove and uninstall it delete folder from program files or C: drive also reboot pc once at desktop, disable protection run the setup for the webcam and plug in the webcam when told to by installation or when you reboot pc.

Re: VIA HyperionPro Driver "stops working" after restart?
Thanks so much for your reply Riskyone101. Yes... The Quickcam setup process actually reminded me to disable these apps. I disabled all AVG and Spybot processes.
Just in case I wasn't clear above... The VIA driver package requires a restart after SETUP.EXE completes. Things work fine after this restart. But restarting or shutting down afterward leaves me with the issue. So strange... Any other ideas? Again - thank you... |
